North Shoalhaven Meals on Wheels provides over 750 meals a week to over 300 clients from Berry to Huskisson, Shoalhaven Heads to Tomerong and everywhere in between. We are committed to delivering more than just a meal; we are a friendly support service of over 250 dedicated local volunteers helping people to stay home and maintain their independence.

ABOUT THE ROLE

North Shoalhaven Meals on Wheels, after conducting a Board skills audit, is seeking an experienced general Board Director to add to the existing Board complement of six Directors. We have recently completed an annual edition to our Strategic Plan, which will require a person who can embrace change, assist in our expansion plans, and has general business experience to monitor the increasingly diverse activities of NSMoW. In acknowledging the responsibilities of a Board Director, and with Governance as the main emphasis of the role, a person with past Board experience and Board Governance Training will be highly regarded. Prior legal training, law expertise or legal experience is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting in the development and monitoring of strategic plans and working with the Board & Manager to achieve business and organisational growth.
• Identifying strategies to appropriately manage risk.
• Ensuring the financial affairs are conducted in an appropriate manner and in line with the requirements set by the Aged Care Standards, ACNC, ATO and internal policies.
• Be willing to join and participate in Board Sub-Committees.
• Working with fellow Directors and the Manager to maintain excellent governance standards.

Key requirements:

• Provide current National Police clearance.
• Directors ID.
• Be available to attend bi-monthly board meetings, participate on relevant committees, liaise with the Chair, Manager and other Board members.
• Other time commitments may include attendance and contribution to strategic planning sessions, board professional development opportunities and stakeholder events.
