October AGM highlights another successful year

Our North Shoalhaven Meals on Wheels Annual General Meeting was held at Worrigee Sports, The Growers by Ponte, on Friday 9 October 2026.

Following an Acknowledgment of Country, Chair of North Shoalhaven Meals on Wheels Luke Sikora welcomed Directors, Members and invited guests.

After the usual business – membership registrations, elections and endorsements, as well as service and committee reports – it was rewarding to look back over the many challenges and even more achievements from the past 12 months.

Valued volunteers

We welcomed the CEO of Meals on Wheels NSW, Claudia Odello, and offer her special thanks for attending and presenting our Volunteer of the Year nominees.

More than a dozen of our prized volunteers received Certificates of Recognition for their outstanding dedication and commitment to helping people and making our community better. As always, the real stars of our year were our many wonderful volunteers.

Continuing Board of Directors

Updates from the meeting include the election of the same Board of Directors for the coming 12 months, with one new Director elected: Angela Pendlebury.

Board office bearers for the next 12 months were elected. Chair: Luke Sikora; Deputy Chair: Deborah Getley; Secretary: Fiona Scott; and Treasurer: David Bourke. We thank Returning Officer, Alastair Preston of Booth Partners, who will continue as auditor for the financial year 26–27. Copies of the reports from the AGM are available. New frontier – Park Road, Nowra

Although we have enjoyed our new commercial kitchen and offices at Norfolk Avenue in South Nowra for the past two years, circumstances with the current building ownership have meant we are on the move.

Our new premises, owned by Shoalhaven Council, will be at Park Road in Nowra. It is an exciting move that will bring better office space, a most welcome large group meeting room and generous parking. We will maintain and improve our extensive food preparation by moving our top-class kitchen equipment and freezers to the new premises. We plan to move the kitchen in mid-November and complete the office move in December.

After the meeting we enjoyed a laugh, the camaraderie and a delicious dinner. We all look forward to the next 12 months.
